2018 Sanibel Shell Show Video by Earther

The Sanibel-Captiva Shell Club was so honored to have the opportunity to be interviewed by Earther online magazine during the 2018 Sanibel Shell Show.  Many great photographs and several individual interviews were compiled into a great article and fantastic 2018 Shell Show Video that really captures our passion, purpose, and dedication to shelling and the study of mollusks.

The website “Earther – Nature for Nerds” focuses on all sorts of things including science and nature. This past March, Senior Reporter Brian Kahn and Cinematographer/Producer Raul Marrero came from New York City to cover our Shell Show for the website. They also wanted to get an insight into the world of shell collecting and Sanibel. They arrived on Tuesday during Shell Show Week so they could experience the exhibitors setting up their exhibits. Wednesday morning they headed to the beach with Shell Club member Bruce Schulz. Neither Brian or Raul new much about shell collecting or mollusks before coming to Sanibel and we wanted them to have a good shelling experience and Bruce did just that. They spent time visiting with Dr. José Leal both at the museum and at the show. Their finished product, a lengthy article and a nice video (both linked below), were posted on their website and Facebook page.
