About Us

The Sanibel-Captiva Shell Club was formed to exchange information in the field of conchology and malacology, to foster public education and intelligent conservation, and to encourage and support studies and research activities in those fields. The Sanibel Shell Show is our largest annual fundraising event. It has been running for decades, except during extreme circumstances out of our control, to provide grants to assist graduate students, post-doctoral researchers and supervised third or fourth-year undergraduate students doing research in southwest Florida or conservation and water quality efforts related to the local Gulf of Mexico.

Our club has over 300 members and continues to grow, thanks in part to our expanded internet presence on YouTubeFacebookInstagram, and Pinterest.

Monthly meetings during season are held at the Sanibel Recreation Center, 3880 Sanibel Captiva Road, Sanibel, FL 33957 on the second Sunday of each month, October thru April, excluding December.  Our meetings are open to the public and we encourage anyone interested in mollusks, the shells they create and our oceans to join us.
