“The Junonia” Newsletter for October 2018

Welcome, again, to our new Sanibel-Captiva Shell Club website.  All members should by now have saved and bookmarked this website so you can return to it again and again.

I hope you have received your email copy (and still a few mailed hardcopies) of our latest issue of “The Junonia” newsletter.  Thanks very much to Joyce Matthys who is our dedicated and very talented editor.

Note that from this Oct 2018 issue on, the archived files of “The Junonia” will be stored on their own page on our new website.  Click the appropriately titled page, “The Junonia” Newsletters from the top menu of our website.   That page will store all of “The Junonia” newsletters each month.

Of special note in this month’s newsletter:

  • The Shell Club will start meeting on the second Sunday of each month instead of the third.  The first meeting will be on October 14 at 2pm at Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum.  Be sure to mark your calendars for the second Sunday from October to April.
  • Read the nice article from our new Shell Club president, Kathy Kapp.
  • If you are a snowbird, remember to pack your gently worn jewelry for resale at the Shell Show. Maybe you have already donated the jewelry you are no longer wearing. How about asking your “up-north” friends if they have any they would like to donate?
  • It is not too early to start planning an exhibit for the2019 Shell Show. You say that you haven’t ever entered anything in the Show before and don’treally know where to start? Just touch base with Joyce Matthys, joycematthys1@gmail.com and she can help you get you on your way.

Go over to the page “The Junonia” Newsletters to read the full text.

See you at the meeting on Oct 14!
