Silent Auction at Shell Club Meetings

Silent Auction by Joyce Matthys

We will be having the first silent auction of the season at the November meeting. Since our last meeting, we have received donations of some very nice shells, shell cases and other shell related materials for our silent auctions. This year we are putting together a committee to help with the auction so it won’t be an over whelming task for just a couple people, and we are asking for your help. What we are looking for are three people who can put the silent auction items out on the tables before the meeting, oversee the tables during the auction time and then be at the table when people come to pick up their items after they have paid for them.

Please contact Joyce if you can help out.

This is how it will work:

  • Before the November meeting I will be meeting with Tom Annesley to set up all of the season’s five silent auctions in separate totes.
  • I will attach the bid sheets to all the items (at my leisure while watching TV).
  • I will hand off the totes to Richard Batt. He will put the starting bid amount on all the bid forms and identify any shells without identification.
  • When Richard is done, the totes will be stored in the Club’s storage area or if one of the people who volunteers to help on this committee to has room in their garage, they can store them there.
  • Treasurer Linda Edinburg will take care of handling the money at the meetings.
