Feb 14 Meeting: Bounty of the Bahamas

The February 14th Sanibel-Captiva Shell Club meeting will begin via Zoom at 2:00 PM EST. Joyce Matthys will be presenting the video documentary program entitled “Bounty of the Bahamas.”

In 2009, 16 members of the Sanibel-Captiva Shell Club ventured to Chub Cay in the Bahamas on a shell-collecting trip led by Anne Joffe and Gary Schmelz. The warm turquoise waters, white sandy beaches and beautiful seashells made it a shell collectors dream come true.

During the Shell Club trip, Joyce filmed many of the live mollusks they saw, not just to show their beautiful shells but also their bodies that in many cases were even more beautiful than their shells.

Twenty-six different species of mollusks and sea creatures are featured in this film. A discussion will follow the presentation.
