The November meeting of the Sanibel-Captiva Shell Club will be held on November 15th at 2:00 PM via Zoom. This is a week later than our regular meeting date. We plan our meeting dates in March and our usual meeting at the Community House conflicted with Taste of the Islands. We had no idea that the corona virus would keep us from meeting for this long.
Only club members are given access to the meeting. An invitation to join the meeting will be sent to you sometime during the week prior to the meeting.
José Leal, PhD, Interim Director and Curator of the Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum will be our guest speaker. The title of his
presentation is “Why We Like Shells.”

Dr. Leal will present an overview of what attracts people to shells and why they have been so alluring to peoples of so many cultures throughout human history. He will also discuss some of the features and properties that make shells so important in studies in natural sciences.
All the committee reports are included in this newsletter. If you have a question about any of the reports, you can contact the committee chair. Their contact information is included in the directory of our Board of Directors found on page 7 of the November Junonia newsletter.
If you have not participated in a Zoom meeting yet, please contact Joyce Matthys at joyce@sanibelshellclub.com and she will send simple directions on how to download the application and how to join the meeting.
