About Us

The Sanibel-Captiva Shell Club is a community of people who share a love for shells, mollusks, and the coastal environment. Whether you’re a lifelong collector, a citizen scientist, or just curious about what you find on the beach, our goal is to connect people and share knowledge in the fields of conchology and malacology.

Our largest fundraising event each year is The Sanibel Shell Show. It’s something we look forward to and take pride in. It’s been a tradition for decades and the proceeds from the show fund our grants program which assists students, institutions, and post-doctoral researchers doing research in southwest Florida. We also support efforts to better understand and protect the ecosystems of southwest Florida including conservation and water quality efforts relating to the local Gulf of Mexico.

With a growing membership of more than 500 individual and family members, our community continues to expand – supported by an active and engaging presence across digital platforms  including YouTubeFacebookInstagramand Pinterest.

We host monthly meetings from October through April at the Sanibel Recreation Center. For more meeting info, view Meetings . All meetings are open to the public, and we warmly welcome anyone interested in shells, the mollusks that create them, and ocean conservation.
