2024-25 grant funds awarded by the Sanibel Shell Club are intended to assist graduate students, post-doctoral researchers and supervised third or fourth-year undergraduate students doing research to enhance our knowledge of mollusk life history, environment, culture, etc. in a marine, freshwater, or terrestrial environment in southwest Florida or should relate to conservation and water quality efforts related to the local Gulf of Mexico.
Grant funding is intended to further the mission of the SCSC which is to promote the study of mollusks. The Club was formed to exchange information in the field of conchology and malacology, to foster public education and intelligent conservation, and to encourage and support studies and research activities in those fields.
Funds may be used for a broad range of items, from assisting with project expenses, such as supplies, equipment, books or other costs associated with carrying out a project, to aiding an established project already underway.
