Shell Museum Seeking Craft Shells

While you’re enjoying collecting shells on our beautiful SW FL beaches this summer, it’d be so appreciated if you would pick up extra shells to donate to both our Shell Club (read this post) and to the Shell Museum.

The Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum is open for business but is no longer conducting group arts and crafts activities. To make up for this, they are graciously giving out take-home bags with the appropriate shells for certain shell critter crafts.

Have some extra time on your hands this summer? They are looking for volunteers to help assemble these craft kits.

And they are in desperate need of the following LOCALLY COLLECTED shells for their craft kits:

  • Large Elegant/Disk Dosinias
  • Atlantic Kittenpaws
  • Eastern Augers
  • Dark Ceriths
  • Buttercup Lucines
  • Mussels of any local species
  • Button Snails
  • Lettered Olives
  • Striate Bubbles

Contact Leigh Gay at the Museum if you’re available to volunteer or donate these specific craft shells.

Thank you!
