The sweeping success of the 2021 Virtual Sanibel Shell Show was due in part to the impressive number of participants in the Shell Photo Contest by our club members and the public, and to those voting for People’s Choice photo award. Including those photos submitted for the Sanibel Stoop and Your Favorite Shell slideshows, we received 424 photos from 15 countries! Thank you all for contributing to make our Virtual Shell Show so fun and successful.
The seven category finalists were revealed during Day 1 of the Virtual Shell Show which kicked off the People’s Choice voting for Best Photos of the Show. Viewers cast their votes using the online ballot, they commented and chatted their votes on YouTube, sent emails and added website comments. All in, we received nearly 300 votes.

BEST PHOTO OF THE 2021 VIRTUAL SANIBEL SHELL SHOW goes to Lorna Littrell with her stunning winning Gastropod category photo entitled “Sunset Treasure” taken on Fort Myers Beach, Florida. Congratulations!
2nd Place goes to Karen Blackford with her People with Shells category winner “Sandbar Shell Shoppers” taken on Sanibel Island, Florida.
3rd Place goes to Amy Tripp’s Bivalve category winner “ZIG-ZAG” taken on Kice Island, Florida.
