Sanibel Shell Club and AmazonSmile

Happy mid-Summer 2021 to everyone! While we’re on summer break from our Shell Club meetings, we thought this would be a good time to remind our members and supporters that our club is registered for the AmazonSmile program. Do you know about this FREE way that you can support our Shell Club?

The AmazonSmile Foundation donates 1/2 percent (0.5%) of eligible Amazon and Amazon Prime purchases to the charity of your choice. Your shopping experience with AmazonSmile is identical to Amazon or Amazon Prime — including great selection, prices, and free shipping where applicable — except your Smile purchases also generate FREE donations to charity. There is no cost to you (the buyer) or to us (the charitable organization).

CHARITY DESIGNATION

In order to participate, go to smile.amazon.com. When first visiting smile.amazon.com, customers are prompted to select a charitable organization from over one million eligible organizations. In order to browse or shop at AmazonSmile, customers must first select a charitable organization. Search for and select Sanibel-Captiva Shell Club Inc.

If you already support a charity with AmazonSmile, you’ll see your charity’s name on the left side of the top menu bar under the main search box on smile.amazon.com. Click on your charity’s name and then you will get the option to CHANGE your charity designation. Then click the box that says CHANGE CHARITY:

A new window opens with some suggested charities, but below that is a place to search for a specific charity. Enter Sanibel-Captiva Shell Club Inc. and click SEARCH, and then select our organization when it comes up.

That’s it! You’re all set to support our Shell Club with your shopping. BUT DON’T FORGET that you need to be shopping on smile.amazon.com instead of just amazon.com in order for your purchases to translate into FREE donations to our club.

AmazonSmile DONATIONS TO DATE

This program has had truly amazing success. Just look at the figures. $293 million worldwide (to date) of FREE charity donations from the AmazonSmile Foundation. And almost $50 to our little Shell Club, thanks to those of you who have already designated us as their charity.

Just think if EVERYONE who shops on Amazon knew about this program. NEW MOBILE APP

Now you can use the Amazon Shopping app on your mobile phone to sign up for AmazonSmile and select “Sanibel-Captiva Shell Club Inc” as your favorite charity.

Want to help make a difference while you shop in the Amazon app, at no extra cost to you? Simply follow the instructions below to select Sanibel-Captiva Shell Club Inc as your charity and activate AmazonSmile in the app. They’ll donate a portion of your eligible mobile app purchases to us. 

How it works: 
1. Open the Amazon app on your phone 
2. Select the main menu (=) & tap on “AmazonSmile” within Programs & Features 
3. Select “Sanibel-Captiva Shell Club Inc” as your charity 
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to activate AmazonSmile in the mobile app
